The Tsuruoka Sakura Matsuri 鶴岡桜まつり ("Cherry Blossoms Festival") is held in Tsuruoka Park, one of the 100 most beautiful places to see the cherry blossoms in Japan. During the festival, visitors can eat or play at one of the dozen stalls standing for the occasion amongst the 730 cherry trees of the park.
The event lasts for the whole period of the blooming season (2 weeks).

There are over 730 cherry trees in Tsuruoka Park, making it enter the list of the 100 most beautiful cherry blossoms sightseeing spots in Japan. Local merchants open up special food stands and game booths until the end of the cherry blooming season. The 2020 and 2021 editions of the festival have been canceled due to coronavirus.
